Decision Velocity™ Diagnostic · NZ & Australia

Your business is outgrowing its decision system

Opsion installs the operating rhythm, decision architecture, and governance spine that scaling businesses need — and most don't have. Two weeks. Working system on day fifteen.

Book the Fit Call See how it works

Most companies don't have a decision system. They have meetings.

Growing businesses hit a point where the founder can't hold everything in their head anymore. Priorities multiply. Meetings relitigate the same decisions. Senior leaders spend their time in rooms instead of on the work that matters. The gap between having meetings and having a system is where growth stalls.

$1,038
The hourly cost of a single leadership meeting in one mid-market company. Two decisions came out of it. One was about $585 worth of lunches. Illustrative example: salary cost only (ex overhead), 1-hour meeting, 16 attendees, 2 decisions.
89%
The cost-to-decide exceeded the value of the decision itself. Most leadership teams have never done that maths.
3→1
Weeks to days. Typical improvement in decision cycle time when a working operating rhythm replaces ad-hoc escalation.

Who this is for

Good fit

  • Founder-led or mid-market operators (NZ/AU) with real execution load
  • Regulated or high-consequence environments: privacy, safety, cyber, finance
  • Teams scaling faster than their operating rhythm can handle
  • Boards that want assurance and accountability, not slideware
  • SLT willing to run the system for thirty days

Not a fit

  • "Strategy deck" procurement with no appetite to change forums or decision rights
  • Teams unwilling to name owners or close decisions
  • Low-consequence environments where decision quality doesn't drive outcomes
  • Organisations looking for ongoing consulting dependency — we design ourselves out
"The cost of a slow decision is never zero. It compounds — in lost weeks, in team energy, in opportunities that close while you're still discussing them."

A working system in two weeks

The Decision Velocity Diagnostic maps where your decisions are losing time and quality, then builds the operating rhythm your team runs from day fifteen — without you in every room.

Week 1 · Diagnose

Map the friction

Kickoff with the CEO or COO, followed by three focused interviews with your senior leaders. We identify the top seven decisions that matter, where they're getting stuck, and what's costing you time.

Week 2 · Build

Install the system

We design your decision architecture: two forums with clear agendas, decision rights, escalation paths, and a decision log that creates accountability without bureaucracy.

Day 10 · Readout

Hand it over

Your leadership team receives a complete Decision System Patch — portfolio, operating rhythm, templates, and a day-one implementation email — ready to run without us.

The guarantee test

If your leadership team won't commit to running the system for thirty days, you don't pay the balance. We're not interested in producing documents that sit in a drawer. This works when it's used.

Headline installed artefacts. Not a report.

Every component is built during the diagnostic and handed over as a working system your team operates from day fifteen. If it doesn't run without us, we haven't finished.

Decision Friction Map (Summary)

Named patterns and where time/quality leaks — summary only.

We install these as a working system. The underlying diagnostic method, pattern library, and install playbook are Opsion IP and are not published. Consolidated into a single Decision System Patch plus a Day‑1 mobilisation note for your team.

What improves in thirty days

At Day 30, you receive a one-page Proof Asset summarising your baseline → Day 30 metrics. This is what the CEO takes to the board — and what tells us whether the system is working.

Install outcomes

  • Faster decisions — reduced median time-to-decision on the portfolio items that matter
  • Less leadership drag — fewer high-cost meetings, CEO/SLT hours reclaimed per week
  • Lower relitigation — decisions stick because rights, rationale, and review triggers are explicit
  • Better risk posture — clearer owners, documented evidence, and "what changes our mind" for every material decision

Hygiene snapshot

  • Percentage of material decisions with an audit trail — owner, rationale, and evidence
  • Percentage of decisions with explicit review triggers to prevent relitigation
  • Decision Log current and used as the single source of truth
  • Forums running to time, agenda, and input/output rules
  • AI use boundaries followed where in scope
The three-document chain: The Friction Map identifies where decisions are breaking. The 30-Day Proof Asset confirms what changed and what remains. If deeper work is needed, that evidence builds the case — no guesswork, no sales pitch.

Common questions

How is this different to strategy consulting?

Strategy consulting often stops at analysis and recommendations. Opsion installs a decision system: clear decision rights, forums, cadence, evidence and a decision log — so choices stick and execution compounds.

What does the Decision Velocity System Install cost?

NZD $10,000 – $20,000 fixed fee, agreed up front. Scope is set before we start.

How much time do you need from my team?

About 3 hours total from CEO/COO and senior leaders across two weeks (kickoff, a few short interviews, and a readout). The rest is async.

Can’t we just use AI to do this?

AI can draft and analyse. It can’t resolve decision conflict, install authority, or change decision behaviour. This is accountability architecture, not content production.

I’ve led and advised in high‑stakes environments where uncertainty is the baseline — military operations, transformation consulting at KPMG, and scaling a VR/SaaS business across NZ and the US.

The pattern is consistent: teams have strategy and meetings, but lack a decision system. Opsion installs the mechanisms that make decisions stick — clear rights, structured forums, evidence discipline, and a cadence your team can run without us.
